St John Berchman’s Altar Servers Society
“A CALL TO SERVE GOD AT THE ALTAR “

The Altar Servers have the important role of assisting the priests at all Masses. We are all guided by our Parish Priest to serve as ONE in the Lord through obedience and love. We play a vital role in preparing the Altar for the celebration of the Eucharist throughout the Mass. We also assist our priests during any special Liturgical Celebrations, including our Parish Feast Day, and other special Masses such as wedding or funeral Masses.

Other than serving at Masses, the Altar Servers Ministry have meetings, organise trainings , conduct camps to enrich our liturgical knowledge and to build fellowship and unity among fellow Servers through games and other activities with the help of Senior Leaders and Parents. We are also involved in the Roman Catholic Archdiocesan. Altar Servers’ activities being established in Singapore as well as in the East District Level Altar Servers.
We have learned to imitate the example of St. John Berchman’s in respecting parents and others and most importantly, to serve God faithfully at the Altar.

  Youth Group
This group consists of youths who gather to share and to grow in faith as a community by undertaking church projects together. Recognising that the needs of our youths are very different, the members seek to manage the issues of teenage and growing-up years in life and vocation, with prayer and fellowship.

This is a platform to allow youths to discover God through their interaction with one another with Jesus in the midst and allowing one to gain a greater awareness and appreciation of God-centred life in the process. At the same time, these activities aim to serve as a training ground for future leaders to serve in the church and society. As they walk on together in faith, they pray that they will continue to do the Lord’s work as He leads them to be.

  St Vincent De Paul
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP), a Catholic lay organisation, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St Vincent de Paul. We take the time and effort to look after the needs of the families who are genuinely financially in need. On the first Sunday of each month, we distribute food ration, aid-parcels and provide monetary assistance for their financial, and help to resolve their medical needs, where required. When appropriate, we visit them in their homes as a way to share the experience of the love of Jesus with all.
